A hat-trick from Captain Tshering Dorji has helped the Reds reclaim their place on the top breaking the winning streak of TRANSPORT UNITED FC in a 4 goal thriller today at Changlingmithang.

THIMPHU CITY FC got their early lead at 18 minutes when a free kick from their vice captain Orgyen Tshering flew right towards their captain Tshering Dorji who then nodded the ball right into the net. “The first goal was a mistake of my player who forgot to mark the scorer” said the boss of TUFC Ngawang Jampel. The pressure from the leading team and their rage for an equalizer seemed to have gotten better of the boys in white which led to them squandering numerous chances.

The second half saw the champions of 2020 in extremely high spirit, threatening the opponent right from the the first minute. Soon after the break Tshering Dorji netted his second goal by hitting the first bar to make the ball swing inside the post at 66th minute and completed his treble at 70 minutes with a blast. Their opponent found it hard to get pass the wall of defense, especially the tall defender Phuntsho Jigme who cleared almost all the attempts from TUFC today.

Nevertheless TRANSPORT UNITED FC earned their consolation goal at 79th minutes when the newly substituted striker Sampa Tshering volleyed the ball to find the net.

For tomorrows match, we will have a derby between GOMO FC and UGYEN ACADEMY FC.
