THIMPHU CITY FC recoup their top position with the easy 3 crucial points they earned from the only southern team GELEPHU FC today at Changlingmithang. The top team had a very relaxed attitude towards their opponent for the day.

As expected, the game swung on the side of the top team THIMPHU CITY FC since the first whistle but the away team had a beautiful chance when GELEPHU midfielder Ugyen Thinley gave a stunning shot but CITY goalie refused it at 11 minutes. After 2 minutes came the opening goal from captain Tsagay taking the hosts in front. The Reds got a lot of glorious chances but squandered it all only getting their double at 26 minutes with Kinga Rabgay slotting the ball pass the goalkeeper.

The second half was nothing different except for the major changes in the defending champions squads. “The game was very easy. Kinga Rabgay came back to the scene at 59 minutes to complete his brace and after 3 minutes Kelden Tobden found the net with an exceptional assist from the experienced Bumlay. Karma Sonam, the newly substituted striker slotted the final goal for the day shortly after the entrance ending the match in 5-0.

Despite the loss, Mr. Mindu the gaffer of GELEPHU FC was positive that his new strategies worked saying “last time we conceded around 10 goals but today it’s 5 goals so I think it worked”.
