FIFA Referee 2022
On the 21st of February, at Changjiji BFF Academy, an event was conducted to celebrate FIFA referees and assistant referees of Bhutan Football for being appointed as FIFA international referees 2022.
All referees and assistant referees were stated to have undertaken a fitness test, practical training, and match assessment during key domestic like BoB Bhutan Premier League 2021 and international matches in order to be selected at this level.
Referees and assistant referees will be given opportunities to participate in FIFA’s top-level matches this year as a result of this success.
The highlight, though, was Mr. Virendha Rai’s inclusion on the AFC Elite Panel after completing the Referee Academy for four years. He is the first Bhutanese man to be appointed as a referee.
"I began my career at the bottom, but now that I have risen to the highest level of Referee in the AFC, I am eager to assist to the development of football in Bhutan and Asia." "I hope to be able to encourage young referees as well," Virendha remarked.

Currently, the BFF Referee Department has nine FIFA-approved referees.
