HQUFC displays a stronger second-half
HIGH QUALITY UNITED FC faced a tough game against the young team from Punakha, GOMO FC having to end the starting half in 0-1 lead of the visitors. They, however netted 3 stunners in the second half giving them 1-4 win by the full time at Ugyen Academy Ground today.
The visitors broke the deadlock at 26 minutes and went ahead through their strong built defender Chencho Nio. Moment after his amazing long-range attempt, Chencho rolled in the ball giving his team the lead.
However the young hosts didn’t give in as their newly substituted striker Migma Dorji Limbu almost equalized it at 33 minutes with his precise corner kick which was miraculously refused by HQUFC goalie Jigme. Even in the additional time of the first half, GOMO threatened HIGH QUALITY with an almost leveler when GFC defender Gayden Rinchen showed a great footwork but was saved.
After the break, the game seemed to be inclining towards the home team’s favor as they dominated the ball possession giving the team on top 4 a run for their money. But in following minutes, the away team fully owned the game as they found at 76 and 78 minutes.
Phuntsho Tashi gave the doubler when he had the GOMO goalie Karma Dorji way forward to go save his chip. 2 minutes later, Sonam Tobgay half-volleyed the free kick from Lekpai Dhendup to make it 3. Nevertheless, GOMO FC earned a consolation goal through their striker Tenzin Wangda at 86 minutes but to their dismay, the newly substituted HQUFC midfielder Jigme Namgyel rolled in a simple attempt wrapping up the scoring for today.
