Last-gasp triumph

TRANSPORT UNITED FC gets their first win of round 2 with a goal from striker Sampa Tshering by breaking the tedious deadlock in the dying moments of the game at Ugyen Academy ground today.

Celebrating the lone goal

The visitors for the day dominated over the ball possession with their forward Kinga Wangchuk giving a direct shot at UGYEN ACADEMY goalie within a minute of match commencement. Nevertheless the home team got a tremendous at 20 minutes when he had the TRANSPORT goalie alone but needed a little more strength to send the ball pass the goalkeeper. Again at 28 minutes, 77 gave a beautiful free kick but it hit the crossbar to go out ending the first half a goalless draw.

After the break pressure built on the host as TUFC went in full attacking mode threatening them from the early minutes. UGYEN ACADEMY goalkeeper Tenzin Dorji gave the league a lot of stunning saves today despite being under extensive pressure but he was forced to eventually give in at 87 minutes after the away team sent attacks after attacks to break down his guard. It was the TRANSPORT’s tall striker Sampa Tshering giving a beautiful finish to an equally exceptional pass from his mate Phurpa Tenzin acquiring the last-gasp win with an only goal.

“I am happy with my boys and their performance as they gave 100%. They played a great game against the strong team.” Said the boss of UAFC, Bikash Pradhan despite the last minute loss.

For the next match match, we will have THIMPHU CITY FC vs GELEPHU FC on 10th August.
