Lhayul FC stays unbeaten in BPL 2021 Round 2

Humbling Gelephu FC 1-3 at Changlimithang today, Druk Lhayul FC has pocketed yet another 3 crucial points of the league. Nevertheless, the team with no win till date, GFC gave a praiseworthy performance against the fellow district league 2021 winner.

Starting very bright for Druk Lhayul FC as they went ahead very early at 5 minutes through their defender Kelzang Jamtsho when he shot the pass from striker Kelzang Penjor right pass the Gelephu goalie Nim Dorji. At 22 minutes, the Gelephu midfielder Ugyen Thinley made an absolutely powerful attempt but was incredibly saved by DLFC goalkeeper Kelden Rangdol Dorji. Lhayul doubled their lead few minutes before the break whistle with Dorji’s clean and precise free kick.

Right after the restart, Lhayul again threatened Gelephu with a long-range shot from defender Tenzin Dorji at 47 minutes but just 2 minutes later, Gelephu earned their nil-saver goal from Ugyen Thinley when he converted the freekick from defender Jigyel Sangay Yoezer. Kelzang Penjor came back to scene as he volleyed in only goal for today.

The team from south got tremendous chances in the last few minutes but lacked a bit of composure hence squandering it all to end the game in 1-3 win of Druk Lhayul FC.

Mr. Sonam Tenzin, the head coach of Druk Lhayul FC responded “They will have 11 players and we will have the same number going against them so there is no pressure as such” when being asked if he feels pressurized about their next match against Thimphu City FC.

For the next match we will have Paro Rinpung FC vs Ugyen Academy FC at Woochu Sports Arena on 4th September.
