LHAYUL grabs the crucial 3 points humbling the young team, GOMO FC 3-1 today at Changlimithang. “We got the same kind of win against GOMO FC as we defeated them 1-3 at their home ground during our first fixture” said Sonam Tenzin, gaffer of DRUK LHAYUL FC.
DRUK LHAYUL FC went ahead through their striker Kelzang Penjor when he headed in the exceptional pass from defender Sangay Dorji. The young visitors were in full rage of finding a leveler but the LHAYUL goalie refused all their attempts. The tall DLFC forward Dorji doubled their lead when he thundered in a clean yet powerful long-range shot, it was a total stunner.
After the interval, the visitors stunningly picked up the pace of the game as they were desperate in search of making a comeback. They successfully found the net at 64 minutes through GOMO defense Tandin Dorji when he half-volleyed the rebound pass the LHAYUL goalie. This had a great impact on the boys of coach Sonam Tenzin who were getting a bit too relaxed after the 2 goals in the first half. However, GOMO strengthened their defense wall not letting in the opponent’s attempt and their goalie Karma Dorji gave the league some of the beautiful saves till date. To the dismay of the away team, DLFC striker Kelzang Penjor yet again hit the back of the net in the last few minutes before full time.
“Though we were 2 goals down in the first half, I motivated my boys saying that we have a whole 45 minutes to change the game. We couldn’t win but my players gave a great performance” said the only female coach of BPL 2021, Ms. Denka, the head coach of GOMO FC.
For the next match we will have TRANSPORT UNITED FC vs PARO RINPUNG FC tomorrow at Changlimithang.
