DRUK LHAYUL FC records their largest margin win today with their 3-8 win against PARO RINPUNG FC today at Woochu Sports Arena. “We had the safe amount of goals scored so we were able to let our young players have their chance to play” said the head coach of DRUK LHAYUL FC, Mr. Sonam Tenzin.
Right from the first whistle, the visitors had the game swinging in their favor and as expected they went ahead 6 minutes when Kelzang Penjor tapped in the cross from Kinley Rabgay. Few moments after, DLFC striker Dorji gave a beautiful shot which bounced back from the crossbar but in 2 minutes they were awarded PK for a foul in D-area, he made up for the first miss by doubling their lead at 10 minutes on the clock. At 24 minutes, the hosts threatened the away team but the fast counterattack had them conceding yet another time when Kelzang Penjor slotted in the rebound just a minute later. However, RINPUNG pulled a goal back to make the score 1-3 through Kinley Tshering’s long range beauty at 43 minutes.
The second half was a serious goal business as both the teams netted 5 goals in total, 2 from RINPUNG and 3 from DRUK LHAYUL. LHAYUL defender headed the corner kick from Kinley Rabgay at 47 minutes and in another 10 minutes, Dorji netted a glancing header. RINPUNG striker Kinley Tshering used the little space between the LHAYUL defense to slot in the double at 67 minutes. However, the visitors midfielder Kinley Rabgay and Samten Norbu found the net in consecutive minutes at 86 and 87 minutes. In the last minutes, newly substituted LHAYUL forward Ugyen Tenzin netted the eighth goal but PRFC’s forward Gyeltshen Zangpo gave a clean shot in the additional time ending the game in 3-8 by the full time.
