A late equalizer in the last 4 minutes of additional time helps Mandala Women’s FC retain their 3rd position on the table drawing 1-1 against Paro Women’s FC at Changlimithang today. Mandala captain Sangay Budhur saved their day.
Visitors for the day went ahead very early within a minute of the first whistle. Paro Women’s FC forward Gyenden Om made an unexpected attempt having Mandala goalie Ngawang Tshomo stunned as the ball shot right pass her. The game was in favor of PWFC as they again found the net at 20 minutes in a set piece but was disallowed for a foul play. Pressure built up against Mandala intensively but the lack of precision and alertness among Paro players worked well for them as their opponent kept squandering all the chances.
Shortly after the interval, Mandala forward Sonam Wangmo gave a powerful shot at Paro goalie Ngawang Chozom but was refused. At 67 minutes MFC midfielder Sonam Choden attempted a long range shot but was cleared by Paro goalie and 83rd minute, Paro faced a serious threat as Mandala midfielder Sonam Wangmo had a lone goalie without defense but Paro goalie yet again cleared the shot. Mandala pressed on till last minute and to their blessing came an equalizer in the stoppage time through their captain for the day Sangay Budhur as the whole team of Paro were waiting for the whistle for offside.
“I am glad that we were able to keep our place on the point table safe but also felt the need to train intensively for the 2nd round. We will make sure to play stronger in the second leg of the league” said Kinley Wangmo, the head coach of Mandala FC.
For the next match we will have Yangchenphug Women’s FC vs Taktshang Women’s FC on 3rd November at Changlimithang.
