
Referee Development Course
It is a vivid scenario that football is growing immensely in the country and to further enhance, Bhutan Football Federation conducts numerous skilling program such as Grassroots Coaching, Coach Education Courses and Referee Development Courses. The on-going Referee Development Course held at Thimphu had more than 150 applicants but only 31 candidates got through the screening process. Out of 30, there are 3 graduates, 6 are students pursuing Diploma in Sports Education at Paro College of Education, 10 are students of various colleges, 2 are the staff of Royal Thimphu College and remaining are 12 pass outs.
Hasta Bahadur Rai is a B.Ed in English and History graduate who is waiting for the result of Bhutan Civil Service Examination. Meanwhile, he is undertaking the course to upscale his passion. “If i get through the BCSE, i will use this skill to contribute towards growth of football in the school i get assigned to”. He said this course is help him realize his passion for refereeing. He is considering to take up Refereeing as a career option if he doesn’t qualify for teaching.
It is a cliché that the game is no more a mere game but a dream a lot of youth holds. A dream that is not just going to remain as a passion because now, there is a way towards building ones own career. The courses are Bhutan Football Federation’s way to encourage all the football enthusiasts to opt for their love for the game and earn a living through it.
BFF is continuously putting in effort to create employment opportunities to help interested unemployed youths to make a livelihood through such programs.
