
Sunrise WFC crowned the Champion
Sunrise takes home the rolling trophy of Kelme-Bhutan Women’s National league 2021 defeating Ugyen Academy Women’s FC 1-2 in the final match of the league.
The two title contenders has proved to be worthy of the cup eversince the first match as Sunrise remained as the only unbeaten team of the league and UA had just one loss, that too against the table topper. The number one team on the table were a safe 3 points ahead the fellow title contender and could afford to end the final clash in a draw to claim the title.
Nevertheless, Ugyen Academy WFC had their own ray of hope as the ultimate clash was scheduled at Ugyen Academy ground, which is a venue a visitor fears of.
The hosts started the game in their favor going ahead early at 5 minutes through Kezang Wangmo but soon after at 20 minutes Sunrise captain Galey Wangmo leveled it up. The 1-1 draw of the first half was enough for the champion but they went ahead netting the cushion goal in the second half through Pema Choden Tshering 57 minutes.
Ugyen Acdemy FC had to settle for runner-up cup.
