The Tigers reclaims the top position

PARO FC gave a tremendous comeback after the break to claim the pivotal 3 points, ending their first round of Bhutan Premier League 2021 at the top of the table. The team has surpassed the defending champion of the league THIMPHU CITY FC with their win against HIGH QUALITY UNITED FC today at Changlingmithang.

The game started well on the side of the home team HIGH QUALITY UNITED FC going ahead at 6 minutes with an absolute stunner from Phuntsho Tashi with equally commendable assist from Kinzang Tenzin. The opening goal picked up the pace of the match, visitors in full mode of finding an equalizer but the defense and goalie of HQUFC did a great job in clear off all the threats until the last minute before the interval. However, the Tigers didn’t give in and were successful in netting the crucial leveler at 45+ minutes which came from PFC captain Jigme Tshering Dorji.

The men in white almost went in front at 63 minutes when captain Lhendrup attempted a long range shot right at PARO FC goalie Gyeltshen Zangpo. After 6 minutes came the winning goal from the season’s top scorer till date, Yeshi Dorji with an assist from captain Jigme and the duo came back in action at 75 minutes to slot yet another goal. The Tigers made an absolutely fantastic comeback in the second half wrapping up the game in 1-3 by the full time.

“We are only half way through and the job is only half done” said the PFC gaffer when being asked about his feelings ending their journey of first round at the top.
