Mandala ends KBNWL with a 3-4 win against Paro Women’s FC today at Woochu Sports Arena. The two team drew 1-1 in the first leg of the league.

Paro got 3 goals from Neelu Maya Rai but was defeated as Mandala got a brace from Sonam Wangmo and a goal each from Yeshi Dema and Sangay Budhar to claim the tough last 3 points of the league.

Sonam Choden the strong midfielder of Mandala FC has taken part in National Women’s league in the past and says “our tournaments in the past were conducted at one venue and being part of Women’s Academy we had set of players always together which enabled us to develop understanding amongst ourselves. But this time, the matches took place in 3 different venues so we got more exposure however I found it hard to adapt with my new mates”.

Sonam was spotted by BFF in 2014 during a selection camp and was selected to train at the Gelephu Women’s Academy. It has been about 7 years after she started football. Sonam Chungku is pursuing her degree in Royal Thimphu College under the BFF scholarship. She will be taking part in the upcoming SAFF U19 Championship in Bangladesh this December.

With this win Mandala FC has ended their tourney on the 3rd position on the table but Paro WFC has a match to go against Sunrise WFC in the next upcoming match at Woochu Sports Arena on Wednesday.
