Bangladesh making point that they are not here to participate but to win this tournament, they played brilliantly today defeating Maldives 2-0 at changlimithang stadium.
After spirited win against India in the opening match Bangladesh is beaming with confident and yet another splendid match today against Maldives.
Two Stunning goals at first half from Shaikat and Iqbal made all the difference to seal three points for the tigers. Bangladesh is on top of the table with six points just ahead of Bhutan with goal difference.
Bangladesh took lead in 9th minutes when Rahman gave a brilliant pass which was perfectly timed by goal scorer Shakit. And the second goal was a one of the best goal of the tournament well struck from 40 yards by Iqbal, the goal keeper did not stand any chance to save the goal.
“Boys played really well today, we could have scored more goal but I am happy with the performance,” said Bangladesh Head coach Hossain Roksy. We changed our formation from our last game with India we played 4 4 2 and with Maldives 3 5 1. We will set our play according to teams.
Meanwhile Maldives hardly trouble Bangladesh goal keeper Hasan pritom. At times Maldivian striker Ahmed Tholal looked dangerous with ball but he lack support up front. Most the ball was lost in the midfield and Maldives failed to create scoring chances.
“I am happy with the performance and I can say my boys are improving every day,” said Maldives Head coach Husan. He added that Bangladesh is a very strong team and the score line 2-0 is relatively good for us. “We expected to concede more goals,”
As of now Maldives is almost out of the tournament with two consecutive game and they will face India and Nepal in their last two matches.
