With the growing popularity of football in the country it has become more than just a game played for fun. Our young football enthusiasts are evermore boosted as they pave their career through their passion and Bhutan Football Federation has created opportunities for such interested candidates.
Differing from other times, this time the course has seen a lot of young talented football players from well established football clubs in the country. Yeshey Dorji is one of the most experienced footballer of our country and he is under taking the course. He says “playing career is short as by certain age we are not fit up to the level to be an opponent against the youngsters so coaching is the closest to being on the pitch.” He says he is considering coaching as a career choice for he sees opportunities even out of Bhutan if one is capable enough.
On the other hand, young emerging players like Lungtok Dawa and Tenzin Norbu from Thimphu City FC is also pursuing the course. For Lungtok the course serves as a way towards understanding basic football in depth to be able to comprehend other strong national team’s tactics. He says “after this course if we go out and play against strong teams of other countries, we will be able to bring those exposure and tactics and groom our grassroots with much more understanding.” He is also considering it a career choice after he retires from football.
Tenzin Norbu has a very different and noble motive behind this. Tenzin wants to take out his time during the weekends and be a volunteer coach. He believes that with this learning he will be able to enhance himself as a player and that will enable him to help all other young passionate footballers.
This course is expected to give useful insights to the participants and improve the coach- player relationship.
