She wears her yellow stripe socks, white shorts and green training jersey at 5:30 am and at far flung she wear whistle blow from her coach. Deki Lhazom is 13 years old and she is training for upcoming U 15 SAFF women’s Championship hosted by Bhutan at Changlimithang stadium starting 9th August.
“We been preparing for this tournament for years now and I think we have big chance to win,” said Deki. She added that the preparation has been very tough and coach is not leaving any stone unturned when it comes to preparation.
Bhutan’s U 15 women’s national team haven been preparing since last year and they are based in Gelephu women’s training academy. Head Coach Sung Jea Lee is really positive and believes that Bhutan can win this year citing home ground and fan support. Although India and Bangladesh are the favourites to win the tournament but we might see some surprises from underdog team like Bhutan and Nepal.
The UTH women’s League at Thimphu proved to be good preparation for the SAFF as it provided good match experience and also work on new tactical formation and physical fitness. “Our girls are in good shape and mentally and physically prepared for the tournament,” said Head Coach Lee.
