City and Transport shares a point

Thimphu City FC draws 2-2 with Transport United FC to share a point each at Changlimithang today. With todays draw, Thimphu City FC is facing a must win match against Paro FC whereas the Tigers can settle for a draw if they win against Gelephu FC in their next match prior to the final clash.

Transport United FC faced an intense pressure from Thimphu City FC since the first whistle and had to eventually send them ahead at 11 minutes when City forward Nima Tshering flicked in the kick from Choki Wangchuk to find the net. TUFC fought hard for an equalizer and shortly after in the 26th minute, they leveled it up through their striker Dilip Monger’s powerful near-post blast as he converted the exceptional cross from fellow Jigdrel Wangchuk. The opening scorer Nima Tshering threatened the hosts numerous times but Transport goalie Hari refused it all to end the first half in a 1-1 draw.

Nima Tshering was back into action after the interval and he put the Reds ahead again at 61 minutes which had TUFC hazy in search of yet another leveler adversely impacting their performance as the haste led to them facing tremendous pressure from the leading team. Nevertheless, their newly substituted Ugyen Dorji slotted in the crucial equalizer late in the 82nd minute.

In the stoppage time, the home team for the day, Transport United FC faced continuous attacks until the final whistle but they notched up their defense game to let Cityzens share a point.
