Thimphu City equals the points on the table with Paro FC, at least until Paro FC plays against their next opponent Transport United FC. They bounced back to grab the 3 crucial points after losing to Druk Lhayul FC by defeating High Quality United FC 2-4 today at Changlimithang.
High Quality United FC started on their front foot threatening City with continuous attacks in the starting minutes but at 10 minutes, Nima Tshering slotted in the opening goal by converting Kinga Rabgay’s cross to put the Reds ahead. Shortly after 3 minutes, came the equalizer from HQUFC young defender Kinley Gyeltshen. However, Thimphu City FC went in front at 24 minutes with Kinga Rabgay’s impeccably stunning long-range shot. HQUFC got several chances to level it up but having squandered all of that, they had to end in 1-2 by the break time.
Even in the second half, HQUFC kept pressing on City almost leveling it early at 50 minutes when Jigme Tshering attempted a long-range goal but hit the crossbar to get cleared. In the last 10 minutes of the game time came 2 goals, first at 82 minutes when little Karma Sonam converted the cross from newly substituted Sherub Dorji and the duo came back into action to score their 4th, Karma Sonam completed his brace at 88th minute. Nevertheless, 2nd goal of High Quality United FC came from newly substituted Jigme Namgyel to make it 2-4 by the full time.
“I think my forward were playing under pressure as they lacked precision while trying convert the glorious chances. It must have been one day luck.” Said Lobzang Dorji, the head coach of High Quality United FC.
For the next match we will have Tensung FC vs Druk Lhayul FC tomorrow at Changlimithang.
