In the last match of Bhutan Premier League 2021 Round 1, a brace each from Ngawang Tobgay and the new scorer Thinley Wangdi, the men in green has claimed yet another 3 points in their 1-4 win against GELEPHU FC today at Changlingmithang.
The hosts threatened the army team very early at 4 minutes but lacked a bit of composure to convert it. Ngawang Tobgay, the star of TENSUNG into the scene, slotted in the PK awarded for a foul by GFC defender Sonam Kinga in the D-area at 15 minutes and within 3 minutes, TENSUNG forward Thinley Wangdi found the net for the first time in this league to double their lead. Nevertheless, the team from the south GELEPHU FC pulled a goal back at 40 minutes on the clock when Phub Dorji volleyed in the cross from Yeshi Norbu.
After the interval, GELEPHU FC gave an intensive pressure to the men in green but their attacking mode adversely affected their play creating loopholes in the defense line. Thinley Wangdi completed his brace at 78 minutes and just after 4 minutes Ngawang Tobgay gave his double when he got the uncontrolled ball from GELEPHU goalie Nim Dorji to tap it in.
“My boys played well today and they always will but I do know what is wrong. Nevertheless we will comeback stronger in the next round” said the optimistic coach of GELEPHU FC, Mr Mindu.
With todays match, we come to the end of the first round of BoB Bhutan Premier League 2021.
