A haul from Tenzin Thinley, all in the second half and a stunner from Captain Lhendrup in the starting half gave High Quality United FC a very comfortable 5-1 win against Druk Lhayul FC today at Changlimithang. With today’s win, HQUFC has booked the 4th position on the table with 34 points.
High Quality United FC went ahead at 15 minutes through their captain Lhendrup Dorji when he curved in the free kick right pass Lhayul goalie Tshering Dhendup leaving him stunned. At 39 minutes, HQUFC faced tremendous attack as DLFC forward Dorji gave a powerful attempt but was cleared by High Quality goalie Jigme however the rebound found Kelzang Penjor who had all the space but HQUFC defender Kinley Gyeltshen headed it out to refuse the almost equalizing shot.
Lhayul leveled it up when their forward Samten Norbu found the back of the net after a minute from restart. However, the star of the day, HQUFC forward Tenzin Thinley put his team ahead at 57th minute when he tapped in the cross from his mate Phub Dorji Tamang and completed his double at 68 minutes. Tenzin didn’t stop there as he found the net 2 more times at 70 and 79 minutes respectively to end the game in 5-1 win of High Quality United FC.
“We were already leading with a safe goal margin in the 75th minute so I gave my players on the bench a chance to gain some exposure today” said coach of HQUFC, Lobzang Dorji when asked about his motive behind making major changes in his squads in the last quarter of the match.
For the next match we will have Gomo FC vs Paro Rinpung FC at Ugyen Academy ground on Tuesday.
