Ongoing BoB Bhutan Premier League 2021

We are now in the 5th week of the league, just about a fortnight away from the end of Round 1 with TRANSPORT UNITED FC leading the table followed by the defending champion THIMPHU CITY FC.

Transport united FC, the team that had to settle for the 3rd position in Bhutan Premier League 2020 stands at the top of the table currently with 15 points from the 100 percent record out of 5 outings. The team has faced UGYEN ACADEMY FC, TENSUNG FC, HIGH QUALITY UNITED FC, GELEPHU FC and GOMO FC until now. TUFC has been switching the position at the top with their oldest rival, THIMPHU CITY FC since the start of this season and the most awaited game between the 2 giants will be taking place today.

The Reds stands second on the table with their 4 wins and a draw. Apart from the heated clash with the Tigers, the champions were pushed to their limit with intense pressure from the new team DRUK LHAYUL FC and faced yet another tough win against GOMO FC at UGYEN ACADEMY.

PARO FC taking the 3rd  position and has recorded the highest number of goals hammering the new team from their own Dzongkhag, RINPUNG FC 11 to nothing in a derby. Their fabulous striker Yeshi Dorji, the only player with a glut until now, currently holds the title of the top scorer with 10 goals in 5 matches.

HIGH QUALITY UNITED FC with 10 points stands next from the 3 wins out of 5 games. Their captain Lhendrup Dorji having received double yellow card during their match against GOMO FC missed their biggest win against GELEPHU FC when they netted 8 goals including a brace from the newly defense turned striker Chencho Nio in the first half.

DRUK LHAYUL FC went ahead to top 5 with their 3 crucial points from their win against RINPUNG FC at Changlingmithang on 27th June. The team showed an exceptional play against the REDS with intensive pressure keeping the champions on their toes until the full time despite the loss.

With 6 points each, UGYEN ACADEMY FC and TENSUNG FC are in 6th  and 7th position respectively with a mere difference of 1 goal. The runners up of 2020 seems to be facing a tough challenge this year managing to win only 2 matches out of 5 whereas, the men in green are getting praised for making their play more than just about their physique and fitness.

RINPUNG FC, despite their empathetic loss against the team of their own district, the newbie has 3 points from their win over GELEPHU FC landing them the 8th position.

GELEPHU FC and GOMO FC are in 9th and 10th position yet to taste the victory. The recent weeks has seen the newbie’s show commendable play against the senior teams of the league. The highlight is the game between GELEPHU FC against the top team TRANSPORT UNITED FC.

Despite the lack of exposure, the new team did not give an easy win to TUFC. The coach of GELEPHU FC Mr. Mindu glittered with pride giving the strong team an intense fight. However, the the team of south faced a major loss against HIGH QUALITY UNITED FC in the last outing and the utterly disappointed boss rated his boys a 2 out of 10.
