Taktshang Women’s FC gets their first win of Kelme-Bhutan National Women’s League 2021 today at Changlimithang by defeating Yangchenphug Women’s FC 0-1. With their first 3 points, TWFC has surpassed YWFC on the point table to take the 5th position.

The first half started well for the visitors as they went ahead threatening the hosts early at minutes on the clock almost claiming their first goal of the season. Another attempt followed at 8 minutes but the heading game proved to be a little too weak for Yangchenphug goalie Tshering Pelden. After 15 minutes, Yangchenphug got the game in their favor as they kept the ball in their possession and almost went ahead at 35 minutes as their Captain Sonam Zangmo got a glorious pass from their forward Shristi Chamling Rai but was squandered by shooting it way too wide ending the starting half in a goalless draw.

Breaking the tedious deadlock at 74 minutes, Taktshang Women’s FC went ahead through their midfielder Leki Lhamo with her long range chip which found Yangchenphug goalie Tshering Pelden guardless. Yangchenphug WFC almost equalized it at 80 minutes when their forward Shristi gave a powerful blast but was saved by Taktshang goalie Nima Lhamo. Despite pressuring on for a leveler, Yangchenphug had to settle for 0-1 loss by the full time.

“I am happy that we won but we were expecting a lot from our girls. The first half didn’t go well as my girls were not communicating leading them to miss the chances they had” said Tshering Yangki, the head coach of Taktshang Women’s FC.

With todays match, we end the 1st round of Kelme-Bhutan National Women’s League 2021 and the fixture of the second leg will be out shortly.
